myTurn allows you to securely accept online and in-person payments via credit and debit card using Stripe.com. Online payments can currently be accepted for:
- Subscriptions / Memberships (initial sign-ups and renewals)
- Rentals
- Late Fees
- Custom Fees
- Taxes
- Renewals
- Additional Fees (damage and loss fees, donations, etc.)
- Recurring memberships (monthly, yearly, etc.) fees
To enable this functionality, you'll need to connect your myTurn site to Stripe by going to:
Settings -> Financial -> Online Payments
and click on the "Connect" button:
Note, if you do not see the "Financial" Settings, please make sure you have not checked off "Hide Money" in Settings -> Organization -> Edit Organization.
You'll be guided through the process to create a stripe.com account for your organization (if you don't have one already) and once completed, you'll be able to take credit/debit cards online and in-person and online. For in-person transactions, anyplace you see the "credit card" icon (see above), you have the option to accept payments via credit/debit rather than just recording the fee in myTurn.
Memberships / Subscriptions and Renewals
Once you have connected Stripe, you can setup some or all of your membership Types to allow for purchase and/or renewal online. You can enable membership reminders at:
Settings -> Members / Customers -> Membership Types
Select the membership types to edit, enable "Self Purchase" (if desired) and check off when you want your users to be reminded about renewals. We recommend at least 2-3 renewal reminders - once the member renews, they will not get further reminders till their next renewal date.
The email will provide a link back to their online account where they can pay their renewal fees online.
Purchase Initial Membership / Subscription Online
You can also allow new membership to sign up and pay for their initial membership by turning on the "Available for Self Purchase Online" option when editing the Membership Type.
If your organization accepts donations rather than fixed membership costs, there is a "flexible cost" option that shows a recommended price, but accepts any amount.
Currently, users won't see the membership options till after they create an account. We'll be adding an option to make these public in the near future so they will be able to select the membership they want, then start the account creation process.
