There are several possible reasons a user can't reserve an item. Many will be clearly shown to the user, but sometimes the reserve button does not show up or the button is disabled.
Reservations are not enabled
Reservations are not enabled. They can be enabled at:
- Settings > Loan & Reservations > Reservations
One or more statuses prevent reservation
One or more statuses set on the item prevent it from being reserved. You can check at:
- Edit the item and check the statuses
- Settings > Inventory > Statuses
No open hours are set
Your myTurn site or the item’s home location does not have open days configured.
Set open hours
- Single-location site:
- Settings > Organization > Edit Location > Hours & Fulfillment Methods
- Multi-location site:
- Settings > Organization > Locations > Edit Location > Hours & Fulfillment Methods
Membership Type does not allow reservations
The user’s Membership Type does not have Allow Reservations enabled. Update it at:
- Settings > Customers > Membership Types > Edit Membership Type
No Fulfillment Methods are available
Reservations require at least one Fulfillment Method. Check the following:
- The item excludes all Fulfillment Methods:
- Edit Item > Loans & Money > Excluded Fulfillment Methods
- No Fulfillment Methods are enabled for the location:
- Settings > Organization > Locations > Edit Location > Hours & Fulfillment Methods
Last Reservation Date is in the past
The Last Reservation Date is the last date a reservation can start or end.
If this date is in the past, non-admin users can’t place reservations. Check it at:
- Settings > Loan & Reservations > Reservations
Maximum Reservation Length is set to 0 days
If Maximum Reservation Length is set to 0 days, users can’t place reservations for that item type (or for all item types, depending on configuration). Check your Item Default Values at:
Settings > Inventory > Item Default Values
Other Reasons
These are usually shown with a pop-up message explaining the issue:
User is blocked
The user's account is blocked at Settings > Customers > Blocked UsersNo payment method on file
A payment method is required for reservations, and the user does not have one saved.Email not confirmed
The user has not confirmed their email address.Maximum upcoming reservations reached
The user already has the maximum number of upcoming reservations allowed for their Membership Type.
