Memberships (aka Subscriptions) control permissions and other things about a user. Each user can have one membership at a time. You can change the membership for a user from their User Details page, or when handling a transaction (check in / out, collecting a fee, etc.):
1. User Details
Search for the user or click on their username on any myTurn screen, then click the "Membership" tab:
On the membership page, select the new Membership type, accept payments if applicable, and then save
2. Check In / Out
The Membership area is always available when handling a transaction for the user, though by default if the users membership is valid and allows checkout, the area is collapsed. Uncollapse it if necessary and select the new membership type, then record the transaction as usual:
