Why does an item show Check Availability?

An item shows Check Availability when it is not available today and within one default loan period from now.

This alerts the borrower that the item may not be able to be borrowed immediately for the standard loan duration. To check when it will be available, the borrower can click the item or badge and review the availability calendar.

Common reasons

An item may show Check Availability when:

• The item is reserved for today
• The item has a Now Buffer
• There is an upcoming reservation within one default loan period from now
• There is an active reservation on the item that has not passed its end date
• The item is in a between buffer after the previous return, and the option to ignore the between buffer after check-in is not enabled

What this means for borrowers

When Check Availability appears, the item may not be available for immediate borrowing under the default loan period rules. The borrower can click on the item and review the availability calendar to find the next available date.
